I Remember

These memories are my only solace
Yet they come so rare
If the memories were to be erased from your mind
I doubt you’d even care

I remember the 4th of July
Almost two full years before
You kissed and bit my lips
Until they were bruised and sore

I remember the skating rink
When you got down on one knee
Displayed a Ring Pop
And jokingly confessed your love for me

I remember the car show
When I held your hand so proud
No matter where we went
We always stood out in a crowd

I remember the girl
That we both used to know
Now we both hate her
That’s just how things go

I remember the movies
When you would laugh right in my ear
Such a beautiful sound
A memory so clear

I remember when we decided to be friends
When we were way too young
We never got over each other
“I love you”, slipping off your tongue

I remember every time we fought
Even those memories are fond
With every single fight we had
Somehow it made us bond
